Editorial note: this is a general guide to Egyptian slots at Fortune Games. Slot rules, features and RTP can vary between operators and game versions, so always check each game's information panel before you spin. Slots are games of chance — nothing here is a prediction of results, and no strategy changes the odds.
Egyptian Slots
An Egyptian slot takes its symbols and story from ancient Egypt: pharaohs, pyramids, scarabs, tombs and gods such as Horus and Anubis. Play'n GO, Blueprint Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Playtech, Hacksaw Gaming and Yggdrasil are among the studios that make them. Our guides to Egyptian slots we stock are listed below.

What makes an Egyptian slot
Pharaohs, pyramids and gods turn up again and again. The Pharaoh is the wild in Pyramid King, pyramids are the scatters in Cat Queen and Legacy of Egypt, Horus heads the paytable in Dawn of Egypt, and Anubis is the wild in Curse of Anubis and Battle Maidens: Cleopatra. Scarabs can be the wild too, as in Egyptian Emeralds. Some are set in tombs or temples, and some follow an explorer, such as Anna, who searches a chamber inside a pyramid in Ark of Mystery.
Two features recur across the theme. The first is the book format seen in Book of Dead: one golden book is both wild and scatter, and the free spins pick a symbol at random that can expand to cover its reel and pay on all ten lines. In Legacy of Dead and in John Hunter and the Book of Tut, each retrigger adds another expanding symbol. The second is symbol upgrading, the heart of Eye of Horus and its spin-offs: in the original's free spins, every Horus wild that lands upgrades the lowest-paying symbol to the next one up.
How Egyptian slots differ
Layouts go well beyond five reels and three rows. Eye of Horus Megaways from Blueprint Gaming has six reels and up to 15,625 ways. Valley of the Gods from Yggdrasil starts on a mostly blocked 5x5 grid with 45 ways, and each win gives a respin that clears blockers, so the grid can open up to 3,125 ways. Hand of Anubis from Hacksaw Gaming pays for clusters of matching symbols, and the spots where winning symbols clear can gain multipliers.
Nor is the bonus always free spins. Egyptian Emeralds from Playtech has none: its one feature is the Scarab Respin, set off when a full stack of scarab wilds covers reel 2, 3 or 4. Pyramid King from Pragmatic Play pairs free spins with money respins, where six or more camel money symbols lock in place and can award jackpots. In Legacy of Egypt from Play'n GO, the Wheel of the Gods picks from 3 to 20 free spins, with a multiplier from x2 to x10 that changes on every spin.
Volatility and top wins vary as much. Egyptian Emeralds is rated low to medium volatility with a maximum win of 200x stake, Pyramid King medium to high with 2,500x, and Hand of Anubis very high with a 10,000x cap.
Where to start
- Eye of Horus: the Merkur Gaming original behind many spin-offs, where Horus wilds can upgrade symbols in the twelve free spins; volatility sits in the medium range.
- Eye of Horus The Golden Tablet: Blueprint Gaming's 2021 version, where wilds in the free spins can turn premium symbols straight into the top-paying golden Eye; volatility is high.
- Book of Dead: Play'n GO's 2016 book slot with the explorer Rich Wilde; volatility is high and the maximum win is 5,000x stake.
- Temple of Iris: Eyecon's long-running game, with a pick feature and free games where wins are multiplied; volatility is low-to-medium.
- Curse of Anubis: Playtech's 2021 game on a 3-4-4-4-3 grid, where each Anubis wild in the free spins leaves a frame that returns as a wild on the last spin.
