How Ancient Egypt Classic plays
The paytable is short and the rules are few. Card ranks from A down to 10 are the lower symbols. Above them sit the ankh, an eye symbol, Anubis and Cleopatra, the queen who pays the most of the regular symbols. Line wins are counted on 10 fixed lines across the 5x3 grid.
One symbol carries the special work in the base game. The golden scarab is the wild, the scatter and the key to the bonus in a single picture, and the next section takes each of those roles in turn. The free spins then add a second idea, the special expanding symbol, which changes how wins are counted for the length of the round.
The golden scarab
As the wild, the scarab can stand in for any other symbol to complete a line, so Cleopatra, a scarab and Cleopatra in a row on a line count as three Cleopatras. As the scatter, it pays a prize of its own when three, four or five land, and three or more of them also start the free spins. Pragmatic Play’s own description of the game calls the scarabs scattered wilds, which sums up that double role.
Free spins and the special expanding symbol
Three or more scarabs award 10 free spins. Before the first one, a sarcophagus opens and releases one symbol, picked at random, to act as the special symbol for the round. When it lands, it can expand to fill all three positions on its reel, and the expanded reels pay anywhere on the screen rather than along a line. As a worked example, if Cleopatra is picked and lands on the second, fourth and fifth reels, those three reels fill with her and pay together, even with other symbols on reels 1 and 3.
