Trixie Bet Explained
A Trixie is four bets on three selections: three doubles and one treble. It has no singles, so you need at least two winners for any return. A £1 Trixie costs £4, and an each-way Trixie costs £8.

With three selections there are three ways to pair them up and one way to put all three together, and a Trixie covers each of them once. Add the three singles and it becomes a Patent, which is seven bets.
What a Trixie costs
Your stake is per bet, so the total is four times your unit stake: 50p a bet costs £2 and £5 a bet costs £20. An each-way Trixie doubles the number of bets to eight, with the place half paying at a fraction of the odds.
A worked example
Say you place a £1 Trixie (£4 in total) on three selections at 2/1, 3/1 and 4/1.
If the 2/1 and 3/1 selections win and the 4/1 loses, only their double pays: £12 back, a profit of £8. If all three win, the three doubles and the treble all pay: £107 in total. One winner returns nothing, because every bet in a Trixie needs at least two.
Trixie, Patent or treble?
A single treble on the same three selections costs £1 and pays only if all three win. A Trixie costs four times as much but also pays when two of the three win. A Patent costs seven times as much and adds a return from one winner through its singles. Each step up covers more outcomes for a bigger total stake.
