Goliath Bet Explained
A Goliath is 247 bets on eight selections: 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 fourfolds, 56 fivefolds, 28 sixfolds, eight sevenfolds and one eightfold accumulator. It has no singles, so you need at least two winners for any return. A 10p Goliath costs £24.70, and a £1 Goliath costs £247.

Every combination of two or more of your eight selections is covered once. It is the largest of the standard full-cover bets, one step up from the Super Heinz (seven selections, 120 bets), which is one step up from the Heinz (six selections, 57 bets).
What a Goliath costs
Your stake is per bet, so the total is 247 times your unit stake: 5p a bet costs £12.35, 10p costs £24.70 and £1 costs £247. Each-way doubles it to 494 bets. Because the total grows so fast, a Goliath is often placed with a small unit stake.
A worked example
Say you place a £1 Goliath (£247 in total) on eight selections, all at evens.
Two winners give one double, which returns £4. Four winners give six doubles, four trebles and a fourfold: £72 back, still a loss of £175. Six winners return £716, a profit of £469. At short odds, a Goliath needs most of its selections to win before it shows a profit.
Non-runners and void selections
If a selection is a non-runner or its event is void, bookmakers usually settle the bets that include it as if that leg were removed, so a double becomes a single and so on. The exact settlement rules, and any maximum payout, are set by each bookmaker, so check the terms on the bet slip.
