Twin Spin slot review

Twin Spin is a NetEnt slot released in 2013 that mixes classic fruit machine symbols with a modern twist. It plays on five reels and three rows with 243 ways to win, and on every spin two neighbouring reels are linked so they show the same symbols. Those twin reels can grow to three, four or all five reels during the spin, and the maximum win is 1,080x stake.

How Twin Spin plays

Twin Spin pays for matching symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel, in any row, so there are no paylines to set. The look is a nod to old reel machines:

  • Low symbols: card values 9, 10, J, Q, K and A.
  • Classic symbols: cherries, a golden bell, a BAR and a red lucky 7.
  • The diamond: the top symbol, paying the most for five of a kind.
  • Wild: stands in for the other symbols.

There is no scatter, no free spins round and no separate bonus game. Everything happens in the base spin: you watch which reels are linked and how far the link spreads.

The Twin Reel feature

Each spin starts with two reels side by side joined together, and when the reels stop those two show identical symbols. While the reels are turning, the link can spread to a third reel, a fourth or all five, and every reel in the group then lands on the same symbols.

The effect on the 243 ways is easy to see. When several adjacent reels match, a symbol that appears on the first reel of the group is repeated across each linked reel, so one high-paying symbol can line up across most of the screen. If the twins land on reels 1 and 2, a symbol they share needs to appear only on reel 3 to complete a win.

The result of any spin is down to chance. Because the feature runs on every spin rather than waiting for a trigger, there is nothing to collect or build towards.
