Parthenon: Quest for Immortality slot

Parthenon: Quest for Immortality is a NetEnt slot set in Greek myth, on six reels in a 4-5-5-5-5-4 shape with 10,000 ways to win. Every win starts an avalanche, and the top row is the Wild Generation Zone, where symbols that form part of a win turn into wilds. In the free spins, each new wild raises a win multiplier, up to x20.

How Parthenon: Quest for Immortality plays

The two outer reels show four symbols each and the four inner reels show five. A win needs three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels, counting from the leftmost reel. When a win lands, an avalanche follows: the winning symbols are removed, the symbols above fall into the gaps and new ones drop in from the top, and the process repeats until a drop brings no new win.

The symbols come from Greek legend. Medusa, Pegasus, a ship, a serpent and a trident are the higher-paying symbols, while A, K, Q, J and 10 fill the lower end of the paytable. NetEnt rates the game high in volatility.

The Wild Generation Zone

The Wild Generation Zone is the top row of the grid. When a symbol in that row is part of a winning combination, it turns into a wild once the win has been paid, and the wild stays in place for the next avalanche. As fresh symbols fall in around it, that wild can help complete a new win, and any symbol of the new win that sits in the top row turns wild in its turn.

Free spins and the multiplier

Three free spins symbols anywhere on the reels in the base game award 8 free spins, and each extra symbol on the triggering spin adds 4: four symbols, for example, start the round with 12. Scatters that land during the round can add more spins. Throughout the free spins every win is multiplied by a running multiplier. It starts at x1 and goes up by 1 each time the Wild Generation Zone turns a symbol wild, until it reaches x20. As a worked example, once five symbols have turned wild the multiplier stands at x6, and a 20p win pays £1.20.

Parthenon: Quest for Immortality compared with Gonzo’s Quest

Gonzo’s Quest is another NetEnt avalanche slot, but it plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 paylines. Its multiplier rises with each avalanche, up to 5x in the base game, and its 10 Free Falls, started by three Free Fall symbols on reels 1, 2 and 3, lift the ceiling to 15x. In Parthenon the multiplier is a free spins feature, raised by the wilds the zone creates, and it can climb to x20.

Gonzo’s Quest 5 reels, 3 rows, 20 paylines Each avalanche: up to 5x in the base game and 15x in the Free Falls 10 Free Falls for 3 Free Fall symbols on reels 1, 2 and 3
Parthenon: Quest for Immortality 6 reels (4-5-5-5-5-4), 10,000 ways Each symbol the Wild Generation Zone turns wild in the free spins: up to x20 8 for 3 free spins symbols, plus 4 for each extra one

Parthenon: Quest for Immortality at Fortune Games

Parthenon’s own stake range starts at 20p a spin and runs well past the UK limits, so here the top stake is set by the caps in the key facts table rather than by the game. With autoplay switched off at sites licensed in Great Britain, each spin of Parthenon, and any avalanche chain that follows it, starts with your own click. Fortune Games has an app on the App Store and Google Play.

Frequently asked questions

Does the multiplier in Parthenon reset between free spins?

No. It keeps its value from one free spin to the next for the rest of the round, so the wilds created early on go on boosting every later win. The multiplier only starts again from x1 when a new free spins round begins.

Does the Wild Generation Zone work outside the free spins?

Yes. NetEnt’s rules put the zone on the top row in the base game as well as in the free spins, so any winning symbol in that row can turn wild on an ordinary spin and help the next avalanche. What changes in the free spins is that each of those wilds also adds 1 to the multiplier.

How do the extra free spins work in Parthenon?

Each scatter that lands during the round puts a point on a meter. When the meter reaches 3 points it resets to zero and adds 2 free spins, so a round that collects six scatters gains 4 spins on top of its starting total.
