Merry Megaways slot review
Merry Megaways is a December 2022 release from Iron Dog Studio, part of the 1X2 Network. Six Megaways reels and a horizontal reel above them give up to 200,704 ways to win, and tumbles follow every win. Its own twist is the exploding Christmas Cracker wild, and the maximum win is 20,000x the stake.

How Merry Megaways plays
Reel heights, and so the number of ways, change on every spin. Wins pay from left to right, then the winning symbols explode and others drop in, so one paid spin can run through several tumbles. Ordinary wilds can also land on the reels.
The horizontal reel over the middle of the grid is where the festive extras appear:
- Christmas Cracker: lands on the top reel, one at a time, and acts as a wild that is not removed when it forms part of a win. Once the tumble chain ends, or if the spin does not win, it explodes and clears a random symbol from each reel plus two more positions.
- Santa’s sleigh scatter: four of these open the bonus.
Free spins, Santa’s Sack and the Lucky Last Spin
Four scatters lead to a Christmas bauble that sets the number of free spins, anywhere from six to eleven. A win multiplier starts at 1x and goes up by one with every winning tumble. It does not reset between spins, so extra spins matter a great deal.
One Santa’s Sack on the horizontal reel adds two to four wilds to the grid and two more spins; two sacks add four to eight wilds and four more spins. The Lucky Last Spin then closes the round: while the final spin keeps winning, another is awarded.
