What makes a Greek mythology slot
The gods usually take centre stage. In Gates of Olympus, Zeus hurls multiplier orbs onto the grid and his scatters open the free spins, while in Zeus III he is the top regular symbol and a temple is the wild. Rise of Olympus adds Poseidon and Hades beside Zeus, and in Champion of the Underworld, Hades takes on a cast of monsters.
Heroes and creatures appear too. Amazing Link Medusa is built on the Greek tale of Medusa and Perseus, with Medusa as the wild and Perseus and Pegasus among its premium symbols. In Pegasus Cash Spree, the winged horse is both the wild and the top-paying symbol.
Multipliers run through most of these games. Gates of Olympus and Wisdom of Athena drop multiplier symbols worth up to 500x, and wilds in Zeus vs Hades – Gods of War carry multipliers of up to 100x. In free spins, Gates of Olympus 1000 and Wisdom of Athena build a running multiplier that does not reset until the round ends.
How Greek mythology slots differ
Layouts run from open grids to fixed lines. Gates of Olympus from Pragmatic Play has no paylines: eight or more matching symbols anywhere on its six-by-five grid pay, then tumble away. Rise of Olympus from Play’n GO uses a five-by-five board, and clearing every symbol from it starts the free spins. Zeus III from WMS has 192 fixed paylines on six reels that grow from two rows to seven, and in free spins the reels swap round so the tallest comes first.
Features differ as well. In Zeus vs Hades – Gods of War, a battle meter shifts play between a calmer Zeus mode and a Hades mode where hits are rarer. Gates of Olympus Super Scatter adds a Super Scatter that pays an instant prize when it is part of the free spins trigger. In Champion of the Underworld from Yggdrasil, Hades fights the high-paying symbols and turns the ones he beats into wilds.
