Da Vinci’s Mystery slot

Da Vinci’s Mystery is a Red Tiger slot released in November 2019, played on 5 reels, 3 rows and 9 paylines. It is built on Super Lines, where matching symbols pay anywhere along a line instead of only from the left. Its bonus, Da Vinci Spins, gives every pay symbol its own multiplier that rises with each win it is part of, so each symbol’s multiplier climbs on its own track through the round.

How Da Vinci’s Mystery plays

The game is set in Leonardo da Vinci’s Renaissance, on a compact grid of 5 reels and 3 rows with up to 9 win lines. Red Tiger sums up its line rule in a single phrase: all symbols pay as scatters along win lines.

That rule is Super Lines, and it is what changes the feel of the base game. On a standard line slot, a combination has to start on the first reel and run unbroken to the right. Here, the 9 lines still decide which positions count together, but matching symbols win when they land anywhere on the same line, with no need to sit on neighbouring reels. The Da Vinci Spins symbol is the game’s scatter: it counts wherever it lands rather than on a line, and it is the only way into the bonus.

Da Vinci Spins

Three or more Da Vinci Spins symbols anywhere on the reels start the bonus. Two mechanics switch on for its whole length, the Symbol Multiplier and Cascading Tiles, and both belong to the bonus round. The round can also grow from within: three, four or five Da Vinci Spins symbols landing during the bonus add 10, 20 or 30 spins, so four of them, for example, add another 20 to the count.

Symbol Multiplier

Every pay symbol has its own multiplier during Da Vinci Spins. When a symbol forms a win, its multiplier goes up in line with the number of symbols that made that win, so a three-of-a-kind win adds 3 to that symbol’s multiplier. The multipliers stay active for the whole of the round, which is why the studio describes them as growing with every win.

Cascading Tiles

Inside Da Vinci Spins, the symbols from a win are removed and new ones are dropped into the spaces, a cascading reels mechanic that the studio calls Cascading Tiles. Because fresh symbols drop into the gaps, a single spin in the round can produce more than one win in a row, and each of those wins feeds the Symbol Multiplier described above.

Da Vinci’s Mystery compared with Mystery Reels and Golden Cryptex

All three are Red Tiger games on a 5x3 grid, but each turns on a different idea. Mystery Reels, from June 2017, uses 20 lines and a Mystery Symbol that copies itself across the reels before the copies are revealed. Golden Cryptex, from 2020, shares the Renaissance setting but plays on just 3 lines and needs five aces in the row marked by the Golden Pointer to crack its Cryptex Code. Da Vinci’s Mystery sits between them on 9 lines and is the one whose wins need not touch.

Game Released Grid and lines Main mechanic
Mystery Reels June 2017 5 reels, 3 rows, 20 lines A Mystery Symbol clones itself, then the copies are revealed
Da Vinci’s Mystery November 2019 5 reels, 3 rows, 9 lines Super Lines; per-symbol multipliers and cascades in Da Vinci Spins
Golden Cryptex 2020 5 reels, 3 rows, 3 lines Five Aces in the Golden Pointer row crack the Cryptex Code for 10 Golden Spins

Frequently asked questions

What kind of slot is Da Vinci’s Mystery?

It is a line slot with a twist on how lines are read, set in Leonardo da Vinci’s Renaissance. Red Tiger released it in November 2019 and describes it as a game where all symbols pay like scatters as long as they share a win line, so what matters is whether enough matching symbols land on a line, not whether they start from the left.

Is the Da Vinci’s Mystery slot different in the base game and the bonus?

Yes. In ordinary spins the reels pay Super Lines wins across the 9 lines. Once Da Vinci Spins begin, two extra mechanics switch on for the length of the round: winning symbols cascade away so new ones can drop in, and every pay symbol builds its own multiplier from the wins it makes. More bonus symbols can lengthen the round as well.

Where do the Da Vinci Spins symbols need to land?

Anywhere. Unlike the pay symbols, which must share one of the 9 lines, the Da Vinci Spins symbols are counted across the whole 5x3 grid. Three or more start the bonus from the base game, and the same symbols keep working inside the round, where three, four or five of them extend it rather than starting it again.
