How Beriched plays
The setting is a witch’s workroom, and the reels are stocked accordingly. Stylised card royals make up the cheaper end of the paytable, while five premium symbols carry the larger line prizes: a potion, a frog, a voodoo doll, a book of spells and a hat. Prizes come from matching symbols along any of the 20 paylines across the 5x4 grid.
What sets the base game apart is that its symbol list contains no ordinary wild. Wilds appear only when the Recipe is completed. The other special symbol is the scatter, and three of them landing on reels 1, 3 and 5 open the bonus round.
Recipe Feature
A row of five symbols, one per reel, is displayed under the grid, and this is the Recipe. Each reel is judged only against the symbol printed beneath it. When every reel carries one or more matches, the Recipe is complete: all matching symbols switch to wilds for that spin, line wins are counted, and the pattern clears. A new Recipe then arrives on the following spin.
Symbol Lock
Partial progress is kept by Symbol Lock. Any symbol that matches its reel’s Recipe entry stays fixed for one spin while the rest of the grid spins again. A fresh match on that next spin extends the lock, so matches can build up over several spins as the Recipe fills reel by reel. But the moment a spin adds no new matching symbol on any reel, every held symbol is released.
Free Spins
The bonus gives 10 free spins, and the Recipe in place when it starts travels into the round with it. Paying symbols that were already locked become wilds at the end of the first free spin, before that spin’s lines are paid. From then on, any further Recipe match turns wild as soon as it lands, and wilds stay locked until the round finishes. Scatters are removed for the duration, so the round cannot be extended.
Beriched compared with Golden Cryptex and Zaida’s Fortune
Red Tiger has built other games around a target the player tries to hit. In Golden Cryptex, a Code sits above a 5x3 grid with only 3 paylines, and five aces in the row marked by the Golden Pointer start 10 Golden Spins. Beriched spreads its target across five reels instead, and part-matches are held rather than lost. Frequently asked questions
Do you need matches on every reel before the Beriched Recipe does anything?
No. A single symbol that matches the Recipe entry under its own reel is enough to start Symbol Lock and hold that symbol for a spin. Matches across all five reels are needed only for the larger step, completing the Recipe, which converts every matching symbol into a wild for that spin and then makes way for a fresh Recipe.
Can the Beriched free spins be retriggered?
No. Scatters are taken off the reels during the bonus, so no extra spins can be won and the round always runs its 10 spins. What can change inside those spins is how many wilds are on the grid, because each new Recipe match turns wild the moment it lands and stays fixed until the round ends.
Where do the wilds in Beriched come from?
Only from the Recipe. Beriched never drops a wild onto the reels at random. In the base game, they last only for the spin that completes a Recipe. In free spins they come from locked symbols after the first spin and from later matches, and they stay put for the rest of the bonus.
