Leprechaun Hills slot

Leprechaun Hills is an Irish slot from Quickspin, released in March 2017 on 5 reels and 4 rows with 40 paylines. Its defining feature is the Lucky Respin: any win that includes a medium symbol earns a respin on reel strips packed with tall stacks of that same symbol. The bonus round, Rainbow Free Spins, swaps that idea for a mystery symbol that turns into one of the medium symbols.

Editorial note: this guide explains how Leprechaun Hills works. Rules, features and payout figures are set by the studio and can differ between operators and game versions, so check the game’s information panel before you play. Slots are games of chance, and nothing here predicts results. Availability at Fortune Games can change.

How Leprechaun Hills plays

Quickspin frames the game as a chance to make mischief with the leprechauns. The grid is four symbols high, which gives room for 40 paylines across five reels, and a line pays when matching symbols form along one of them.

The paytable is split into tiers, and the medium symbols are the ones to watch, because they drive both features. In the base game, a win that includes one of them is never the end of that spin’s story, since it leads straight into a Lucky Respin. The other symbol that matters is the bonus scatter. Land three of them on one spin and the reels switch to Rainbow Free Spins.

Lucky Respins

Whenever a winning line contains a medium symbol, the Lucky Respin follows. For that spin the reel strips are rebuilt, populated with massive stacks of the symbol that produced the win, so the whole grid leans towards one picture. Quickspin’s game sheet puts the purpose plainly: the stacks are there for even bigger prizes from the symbol that has just paid, and the trigger is any win with a medium symbol, not a set of scatters.

Rainbow Free Spins

Three bonus scatter symbols award seven Rainbow Free Spins. The round brings a mystery symbol onto the reels, and each time it lands it is revealed as one of the medium symbols, picked at random. That ties the bonus back to the same tier that powers the Lucky Respins, so the medium symbols stay at the centre of play from the base game through to the free spins.

Leprechaun Hills compared with Sakura Fortune

Quickspin released Sakura Fortune a month later, in April 2017, on the same frame of five reels, four rows and 40 lines, and both games lean on a respin in the base game. The triggers are where they split. Leprechaun Hills respins after any win with a medium symbol, whereas Sakura Fortune waits for two full stacks of princess wilds and then hands out respins according to how many wilds are in view. Their free spins differ as well: here a mystery symbol becomes a medium symbol, while each princess wild that lands in Sakura Fortune’s round expands over its reel, stays there and adds a spin.

Frequently asked questions

What is Leprechaun Hills?

It is a video slot that celebrates all things Irish, with leprechauns and magic fungi among its symbols and pots of gold to hunt for. When it launched, Quickspin’s chief executive called it perhaps the studio’s most entertaining and colourful game to date, and credited what he described as intelligent maths behind an immersive experience.

Can you play Leprechaun Hills for real money?

Yes. At Fortune Games it is a real-money slot for registered players aged 18 or over. Quickspin built it in HTML5 and lists desktop and mobile among its channels, so the 40-line game is built for a computer browser as well as a phone. Its launch announcement made the same point, naming HTML5 as the technology behind both versions.

Is Leprechaun Hills a Quickspin game?

It is. Quickspin released it in March 2017, and its game page describes a 4×5 reel, 40-line video slot with lucky respins and rainbow free spins. A month later Quickspin used the same five-reel, four-row, 40-line frame for Sakura Fortune, where the respins come from princess wilds instead.
