Imperial Palace slot review

Imperial Palace is a Red Tiger slot released in November 2016, played on five reels and three rows with up to 20 paylines. Its main mechanic is the Wild Brush, which sweeps across the reels leaving golden wilds behind, and the Empress symbols unlock a free spins round where the brush appears on every spin. How Imperial Palace plays

The game is set inside a Chinese imperial palace, with the Empress at its centre. Wins come from matching symbols across the 20 paylines, starting from the left, and wild symbols stand in for the regular symbols to complete lines.

The Wild Brush is what gives the base game its character. On a random spin, a large brush slides across the reels and paints golden wilds in its path. What it leaves behind:

  • Golden wilds – left on the reels wherever the brush passes, which can join up several lines at once.
  • Multiplied wilds – some sweeps also add a multiplier to the wilds left behind, so lines they complete can pay more.

Where many slots of its age rely on a plain scatter-and-free-spins loop, Imperial Palace puts a visible, random wild feature in the base game, so a spin with no scatters can still change shape. The feature is random and cannot be predicted or encouraged.

The Empress free spins

Three Empress symbols landing in one spin trigger the free spins. The number of free spins awarded is random, so the length of the round varies from one trigger to the next.

During the round, the Wild Brush appears on every spin rather than at random. That means each free spin has golden wilds added somewhere on the reels, and those wilds can still carry a multiplier. With the brush on every spin, the round is the part of the game where wilds and multipliers get the most chances to line up.
