Demo Slots Free Online: How Free Play Works in the UK
A demo slot lets you spin with play credits instead of real money. In the UK, every licensed site must check that you are 18 or over before you play any game, including a free version, so you cannot play demo slots on a licensed site without an account. You can still learn how a slot works before you stake, and the Fortune Games Daily Wheel offers free spins with no deposit.

What a demo slot is
A demo, or free-to-play version, uses the same rules, paytable and features as the real game, but with play credits. Nothing is staked and nothing can be won. People use demos to see how a bonus round triggers or how often a game tends to pay, before deciding whether to play it for real. A demo shows how a game works, not how your own session will go, because every spin is random.
Why UK sites check your age first
Since May 2019, Gambling Commission rules have required licensed operators to verify a customer’s age before they can play free-to-play versions of games, as well as before they deposit. The aim is to stop children playing gambling-style games. Our guide to demo play and age verification explains the rules. It is the same check you pass before depositing, so once you are verified you can open any game on the site.
Learning a slot before you stake
- Read the help screen: every game lists its rules, paytable and features, and most show their RTP.
- Compare games: our slot comparisons set games side by side on RTP, volatility and features.
- Know the feature triggers: the help screen explains how free spins and bonus rounds start, so you know what to look for.
- Check the stake range: the bet settings show the lowest and highest stake per spin.
- Start small: the lowest stake lets you see a game in action for less, and a deposit limit caps what you can spend.
Free spins with no deposit: the Daily Wheel
If you want to spin without depositing, the Daily Wheel is the free option:
- Daily Wheel: every registered player can spin the Daily Wheel once a day for a chance to win free spins on selected slots, with no deposit needed. A prize is not guaranteed; a spin not used by 23:59 expires, and free spins not used within 7 days expire. Winnings are paid as cash with no wagering, but the terms cap them at your lifetime deposits, up to £250, so check the full terms if you have not made a deposit. Full T&Cs.
Terms that apply to all offers: bonus funds can only be staked on the games listed on the Bonus Enabled Games page; withdrawing before you finish wagering forfeits remaining bonus funds and outstanding promotions; bonus funds and pending offers are removed if you have not logged in for more than 7 days; and offers are not added automatically to quick or in-game deposits, so contact support to claim one.
Other offers need a deposit of £10 or more; see our promotions page for their terms.

Can you win money in a demo?

Is a demo the same as the real game?
It uses the same rules and features, but no money is involved. Real-money play also has UK stake limits.
