Berryburst slot review

Berryburst is a NetEnt fruit slot released in August 2018, played on five reels and three rows. It has no paylines: Cluster Pays rewards groups of five or more matching symbols, and an ice-cube wild expands to fill its reel and earns a re-spin. The maximum win is 1,300x the stake.

How Berryburst plays

In Berryburst, a cluster is five or more matching symbols joined horizontally or vertically, so diagonal neighbours don’t count, and a group can grow to 15 symbols to fill the whole screen. Larger clusters pay more.

  • Raspberries are the top-paying fruit, with orange slices and limes among the others.
  • Hearts, spades and diamonds, drawn as gems inside bubbles, are the lower pays.
  • The wild is an ice cube marked W, and it can land on any reel.

NetEnt launched Berryburst on the same day as Berryburst MAX, the first double release in its MAX product line. Both share the same mechanics, but MAX has much higher volatility and win potential, making the original the lower-volatility half of the pair.

Expanding Wilds and Re-Spins

A wild that lands in the main game expands to cover its whole reel and starts the Re-Spins feature. The wild reel holds while the other reels spin again, and each new ice cube also expands, holds and awards another re-spin. The sequence ends when a re-spin brings no new wild.

NetEnt’s launch release called this its proven expanding wild re-spins mechanic, now on all five reels. With Cluster Pays, a full reel of wilds can link matching symbols on the reels either side of it into larger groups.

One paytable rule is worth knowing: when six or more wilds form a cluster, they only substitute for symbols on either side of it. The one exception is a screen filled entirely with wilds. There is no free spins round or scatter symbol, so the re-spin sequence is the whole bonus.

Frequently asked questions

Is Berry Burst the same slot as Berryburst?

Yes, if you mean the slot. NetEnt writes the name as one word, Berryburst, and launched it in August 2018 alongside a higher-volatility twin called Berryburst MAX.

Does Berryburst have free spins?

No. Its feature is the wild re-spin: an ice-cube wild fills its reel and the other reels spin again for as long as new wilds keep landing.

What slots are similar to Berryburst?

Try Fruit Shop, Fruit Party or Berry Berry Bonanza. The tiles at the top of this page show them, and you can play them at Fortune Games.

What is the RTP?

The game’s information panel shows it. RTP can differ between operators and game versions, so check the panel in the version you play.
