How Golden Macaque plays
The reels sit in front of a mountain temple, and most of the paying symbols are animals from the Chinese zodiac.
- J, Q, K and A are the low pays.
- A rabbit, a rooster, a pig, a goat and a tiger are the high pays, with the tiger on top.
- A macaque is the wild. It stands in for the standard symbols but not for the gong or the drum.
- Gongs are the scatters, and drums are the bonus symbols for the respins.
When Playtech launched the Fire Blaze series in 2019, it said each new game would pair the shared respin-and-jackpot feature with a different second feature. In Golden Macaque, the difference is the Golden Macaque symbol that can appear inside the respins.
The Gong Feature and Fire Blaze Respins
Six or more drums trigger the Fire Blaze Respin feature with three respins, and the triggering drums are held in place. Each new drum reveals a cash prize or a Jackpot Star, and anything new that lands is held and resets the count to three. When a Golden Macaque lands, it awards a prize equal to the total of the prizes on the reels at that moment, in effect doubling what is on show.
Jackpot Stars turn into jackpot prizes, and filling every position with drums, stars and Golden Macaque symbols wins the Grand.
Three or more gongs start the Gong Feature: you choose one of four gongs, and it reveals either the Fire Blaze Respin feature or six free spins played with only the high-value symbols.
