Editorial note: this is a general guide to gladiator slots at Fortune Games. Slot rules, features and RTP can vary between operators and game versions, so always check each game's information panel before you spin. Slots are games of chance — nothing here is a prediction of results, and no strategy changes the odds.

Gladiator Slots

A gladiator slot is set in ancient Rome or its arena, with centurions, gladiators, shields, chariots and the Colosseum among the symbols. Our guides credit most of these games to Inspired Gaming, whose Centurion is a fixture of UK betting shops, and others to ELK Studios, WMS (now part of Light & Wonder) and Gaming Realms, which made Slingo Centurion with Inspired. Our guides to gladiator slots we stock are listed below.

What makes a gladiator slot

The paytables draw on the legion and the arena. Spartacus pays for swords, shields, lions and the gladiator himself, and scattered colosseums award its free spins. Centurion Free Spins adds chariots, the Colosseum and helmets, with a golden laurel wreath as the wild.

Some games build a story around the setting. Gladiatoro casts Toro, the bull from ELK Studios’ Wild Toro games, as a Roman general who is betrayed by the Matador and rises through the arena as a gladiator. In Slingo Centurion, Road to Rome moves your centurion around a board of prizes with rolls of the dice.

Random base-game modifiers run through Inspired Gaming’s Centurion games. In Centurion, the centurion can barge in to add wilds, nudge reels into wins or boost a spin, and in Centurion Free Spins a gladiator can appear and trigger one of four random modifiers. Bonus symbols in Centurion, Centurion Big Money and Centurion Megaways open a trail of features with collect-or-continue decisions.

How gladiator slots differ

Layouts vary widely. Spartacus from WMS uses Colossal Reels: a standard 5x4 reel set beside a giant 5x12 set, with 100 paylines running across both, and a full stack of its wild on the main reels transfers across to turn the matching colossal reel wild. Gladiatoro starts on five reels and four rows with 178 paylines, and Level-Up coins can add rows until it reaches six rows and 340 paylines. Centurion Megaways puts the centurion on six reels of shifting heights, so the ways count changes from spin to spin, while Slingo Centurion swaps the reels for a 5x5 Slingo grid, where 10 spins mark numbers off and every Slingo moves your army up a bonus ladder.

The bonus rounds take different shapes. In Centurion Bigger Big Money, three, four or five bonus symbols start a chase along a multiplier trail with the Bush in pursuit, and when the Bush catches the Centurion you pick one of three bushes, of which only Bonus Over ends the round. The Gladiator Bonus in Gladiatoro plays on a grid where only coins, special symbols and blanks can land, and each new symbol resets the spins to three.

Our guides rate Spartacus and Centurion Megaways medium-high volatility and Centurion Bigger Big Money medium. Where a guide states a maximum win, it is 500x stake in Slingo Centurion, 8,333x in Centurion Bigger Big Money and 10,000x in Gladiatoro. Those are ceilings, not likely results.

Where to start

  • Centurion: Inspired Gaming’s original, a fixture of UK betting shops, whose bonus trail leads to four features, including Caesar’s Free Spins and the top-tier Reelus Maximus.
  • Centurion Free Spins: three or more centurion scatters start up to 16 free spins, on reels where wilds land stacked.
  • Centurion Big Money: the original’s modifiers and trail, with the prize ceilings raised on the upper rungs of its bonus ladder.
  • Gladiatoro: Toro, a walking wild, gives a respin each time he steps one reel to the left, doubling the value of any coin he walks over.

All values (Bet Levels, Maximum Wins etc.) mentioned in relation to this slot game are subject to change at any time.
