Dynamite Digger slot review

Dynamite Digger is a gold-mining slot from Playtech, played on five reels, three rows and 20 fixed paylines. Its one mechanic is Exploding Reels: winning symbols blow apart and new ones fall into the gaps, so a single spin can pay more than once. There are no wilds, scatters or free spins to wait for.

How Dynamite Digger plays

Dynamite Digger is one of Playtech’s older, simpler slots. All 20 lines are always in play, so the only choice is the stake. Every spin is a base-game spin: there is no bonus symbol and no separate round, which means everything the game can pay comes from the lines and the chain reactions they set off.

The symbols stick closely to the mining theme:

  • The miner: the bearded prospector is the top-paying symbol, and five on a line is the largest line win.
  • Mining kit: sticks of dynamite, pickaxes and mine carts make up the rest of the higher pays.
  • Lower pays: card ranks make up the lowest-paying symbols.

Our lobby also has Dynamite Digger Eureka, a separate game that shares the name.

The Exploding Reels feature

Exploding Reels works on every spin and needs no trigger. When symbols form a win on a line, the win is paid, the winning symbols explode and disappear, and the symbols above them drop down. New symbols then fall in from the top to fill the empty spaces.

If the new layout makes another win, that win is paid and the same thing happens again. The chain carries on for as long as fresh wins keep forming and stops when a drop produces no new combination. One paid spin can therefore turn into two, three or more wins before the next spin, all at the stake you placed.

This cascade is the reason the game holds up without a free spins round. Here it is the whole game, which keeps every spin short and easy to follow.
