What makes a buffalo slot
Most of these games stack the buffalo on the reels. In Buffalo Blitz it arrives in herds among lynx, elk, bears and raccoons, stacked deep enough that it can fill whole screens, and Buffalo Blitz II stacks it deep again. Buffalo King and Buffalo King Megaways set eagles, pumas and moose beside a stacked buffalo that leads the paytable. In Buffalo Power: Hold and Win the buffalo is the wild itself, and it always lands stacked.
The backdrops are mostly prairie or plains: Buffalo Blitz and its sequel cross the prairie, Buffalo Power: Hold and Win is set on the North American prairie, and both Buffalo King games charge across the plains. Blazing Bison Gold Blitz and Buffalo Rising Megaways head for the Wild West instead, and in the first a burning bison leads the cast.
Two features recur. Buffalo Blitz, Buffalo Blitz II, Buffalo King and Blazing Bison Gold Blitz all play on six reels and four rows with 4,096 ways. And free spins usually belong to multiplier wilds: in Buffalo Blitz, Buffalo King, Buffalo King Megaways and Blazing Bison Gold Blitz, wilds in the round carry 2x, 3x or 5x, and in the first three, several in one win combine.
How buffalo slots differ
Layouts split three ways. Beside the fixed 4,096-ways games, Buffalo King Megaways changes its reel heights every spin for up to 200,704 ways, and Blueprint Gaming’s Buffalo Rising Megaways adds a horizontal top reel above reels two to five, for up to 117,649 ways. Buffalo Power: Hold and Win goes the other way, with 20 fixed paylines on five reels and three rows.
The bonus rounds differ more. In Buffalo Blitz the scatter count sets the free spins, from eight for three up to one hundred for six, while Buffalo Blitz II lets you trade spins against stronger multiplier wilds. Buffalo Rising Megaways also lets you choose how the round runs, and its multiplier then rises by one after every cascade, with no upper limit. Blazing Bison Gold Blitz offers free spins or up to 7 Gold Blitz spins, where only collect, cash and jackpot symbols land. Buffalo Power: Hold and Win has a respin round in which Power symbols can add one of four fixed jackpots.
