Granny vs Zombies slot

Granny vs Zombies is a PearFiction Studios slot released on 4 April 2023, played on 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 paylines. Its defining idea is a grandmother standing her ground against a crowd of zombies, and that story runs through three bonus routes: Free Spins with a multiplier that grows as she gets the upper hand, a LockNWin coin feature, and a Jackpot LockNWin where three star coins in a row decide the prize.

Editorial note: this guide explains how Granny vs Zombies works. Rules, features and payout figures are set by the studio and can differ between operators and game versions, so check the game’s information panel before you play. How Granny vs Zombies plays

The 20 paylines run across a 5x4 grid. Granny herself is the top pay symbol, with the zombies just below her, so the two sides of the story also sit at the head of the paytable.

The base game has two kinds of wild: a Granny Wild and a Zombie Wild. Each works as a regular wild on its own, but they react to each other. When both land on the same spin, the encounter adds three more wilds at random spots on the reels, which can complete lines the first two could not reach. The base game is also where LockNWin coins gather; six or more of them in view start the coin feature described below, while the free spins need their own symbols.

Free Spins

Three free spin symbols open the free spins, and the round starts with a choice. Granny can take one of four options into the round, and each has a different strength against the zombies. The win multiplier climbs as she makes headway against the zombies, and enough progress awards extra free spins on top of the starting number. One zombie matters more than the rest: overcoming the Disco Zombie during the round leads to the Jackpot LockNWin.

LockNWin

Six or more LockNWin coins in the base game start this hold and win style feature. You get three lives, which here means three chances to land a new coin. Every spin that adds no coin uses up one life, and each new coin that lands puts the count back to three. The round ends when all three lives are gone. Landing a star coin during LockNWin sends the game on to the Jackpot LockNWin, the second route into the prize round.

Jackpot LockNWin and the Jackpot Wheel

The game has five jackpot levels: Micro, Mini, Minor, Major and Mega. In the Jackpot LockNWin, which comes from a star coin in LockNWin or from the Disco Zombie in the free spins, three star coins in a row win the jackpot they match. Separately, the game also has a Jackpot Wheel, a feature of its own rather than part of the Jackpot LockNWin, so the prize round is not the only place the jackpots appear in the rules.

Frequently asked questions

What is Granny vs Zombies?

It is a zombie-themed slot from PearFiction Studios, first released in spring 2023. The story pits one grandmother against a crowd of zombies, and the theme reaches into every feature: the paired wilds, the choice of four options in the free spins and the Disco Zombie, who opens a jackpot round when Granny gets past him.

How do you get the jackpots in the Granny vs Zombies slot?

Through the Jackpot LockNWin. Two things lead there: a star coin landing during LockNWin, or overcoming the Disco Zombie in the free spins. Once inside, three star coins in a row decide which of the five levels you win, from Micro up to Mega. The game also has a Jackpot Wheel, which sits outside that round.

How many lives do you get in LockNWin?

Three. The count only falls on spins that add no new coin, and any fresh coin restores it to the full three, so a steady run of coins can keep the feature going for many spins. Once a spin passes without a coin while only one life is left, the feature ends.
