This is an educational guide to how casino games work. House edge and payout figures are typical values and vary by game, rules and operator. No casino game can be beaten in the long run — play for entertainment, never as a way to make money, and only stake what you can afford to lose.
Casino Hold’em Explained
If you like the idea of Texas Hold’em but don’t fancy facing other players, Casino Hold’em is for you — it’s you against the dealer. Here’s how it works.
How it works
You place an Ante bet and are dealt two cards, along with three community cards (the flop). You then decide whether to fold — losing your Ante — or make a Call bet to continue. Two more community cards are dealt, and the best five-card hand wins.
The dealer qualifies
The dealer needs a pair of fours or better to “qualify”. If they don’t, your Call bet is returned and the Ante pays out — a quirk that shapes the strategy.
A little skill
Your call-or-fold decision affects the edge, so there’s a skill element, though the structure keeps it simple. See three card poker rules, what Pai Gow Poker is and how to play baccarat.
