Blazing Mammoth slot
Blazing Mammoth is a Stone Age slot from PearFiction Studios, the Montreal designer, which launched it in May 2021 on the Microgaming network. It runs on 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines. Its defining idea is the Instant Mammoth Jackpot: three or more woolly mammoths on the reels pay a cash prize at once, and a full herd sends a stampede across the screen.

How Blazing Mammoth plays
PearFiction sets the game in the Stone Age, in an icy landscape of snow-capped mountains and sunsets where woolly mammoths and sabre-tooth tigers roam. The grid is 5 reels by 3 rows, and line wins are counted along 20 paylines. The line count is fixed, so every spin covers all 20 and only the stake size changes.
Two kinds of prize run side by side. Ordinary symbols pay from left to right along the lines, and the highest single line award belongs to a large golden W, which pays the top line prize shown in the table for five on a payline. The mammoths work differently: they pay by how many appear on the reels after a spin, with no need to sit on a line. PearFiction rates the volatility as low, so the game is built around frequent smaller returns rather than rare large ones.
Instant Mammoth Jackpots
The jackpots need no bonus round. When three or more mammoth symbols land on the reels, the game pays a cash prize straight away, and the award rises with each extra mammoth, from a return of the stake for three up to the top award for a full screen of nine. That top step is where the herd stampedes across the reels, and it is also the game’s maximum win. The table above lists each step, and the gaps widen sharply once more than six mammoths are in view.
Free Spins Game
The second feature is a round of free spins. PearFiction states that it can award up to 30 free spins and multiply wins by up to 3x, so the size of the round varies from one trigger to the next rather than being fixed. Where the mammoth prizes are paid the moment the symbols land in the base game, this round is a separate stage of play, and its multiplier of up to 3x is what sets it apart from ordinary spins.
Blazing Mammoth compared with 9 Masks of Fire
Players who know 9 Masks of Fire, the Gameburger Studios game for Microgaming, will find the structure familiar. Both use 5 reels and 20 paylines, both pay a separate prize when three or more of a special symbol land, and both include free spins that can reach 30 spins with wins tripled. The difference is in the setting and the symbol behind the extra prizes: fiery masks there, woolly mammoths on a snowy plain here.
| Game | Grid and lines | Scatter prize symbol |
|---|---|---|
| 9 Masks of Fire | 5 reels, 20 paylines | Masks, three or more |
| Blazing Mammoth | 5 reels, 3 rows, 20 paylines | Woolly mammoths, three or more |

Frequently asked questions
What is Blazing Mammoth?
It is a prehistoric slot from PearFiction Studios, the Canadian designer that signed an exclusive distribution deal with Microgaming at the start of 2021; this was the second title announced under that deal, after Chicago Gold. The setting is an icy valley where sabre-tooth tigers and woolly mammoths roam, and the mammoths double as the game’s jackpot symbol.
How does the Blazing Mammoth slot work?
Each spin is settled in two ways at once. Line wins are counted along 20 fixed paylines on the 5x3 grid, and then the mammoths are counted wherever they sit, with three or more paying an instant cash prize. A third route is the free spins round, which can give up to 30 spins with wins multiplied up to 3x.
Is there a newer version of Blazing Mammoth?
Yes. PearFiction later released Blazing Mammoth XL, a return to the same ice age setting. Its main addition is a pair of mammoth symbols that stretch the reel they land on by three rows, which raises the number of ways to win. The original keeps the simpler fixed layout of 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines.
