Area Link Phoenix Firestorm slot review

Area Link Phoenix Firestorm is the AreaVegas Games sequel to Area Link Phoenix, released through Games Global in May 2025. It plays on five reels and three rows with 20 paylines, and its main mechanic is the Area Link respins feature, where fireballs lock in place and coloured phoenix upgrades can join the round. Filling all 15 positions awards the Grand jackpot of 5,000x stake, which is also the maximum win.

How Area Link Phoenix Firestorm plays

Line wins pay left to right on 20 fixed lines, and the phoenix wild stands in for every symbol except fireballs. Fireballs carry cash values or jackpot labels, and they are what the whole game is built around. Above the reels sit coloured eggs, each tied to one of the phoenix upgrades.

The sequel’s headline addition is the Firestorm: a random event that starts Area Link straight away with between one and five upgrades switched on, depending on how many eggs it lights. It also has more upgrades than the first Area Link Phoenix.

The Area Link feature and phoenix upgrades

Area Link starts when fireballs trigger it in the base game, or when the Firestorm fires. The fireballs on screen lock in place and you get 3 respins. Every new fireball that lands locks too and resets the respins to 3. The round ends when the respins run out or every position is full.

  • Orange phoenix: adds multipliers to the yellow fireballs.
  • Red phoenix: collects the prizes on view and then becomes a yellow fireball.
  • Blue phoenix: raises the base values of the yellow fireballs.
  • Green phoenix: boosts prizes with random value increases.
  • Magenta phoenix: adds a second Area Link grid, so two arrays play at once.

Four fixed jackpots can land on fireballs: Mini at 10x, Minor at 20x, Major at 100x and Grand at 5,000x stake. The Grand needs all 15 positions on a grid to fill. There is no free spins round.
