Review of the Clash of the Seraphims

There is nothing new in the entertainment business when it comes to epic battles between good and evil, and Clash of the Seraphim comes with biblical references as the grid is literally situated between heaven and hell. On each side of the 7x7 grid of cluster pays is a representative from both domains hanging out, and this provides an excellent backdrop to the action that takes place.

The backstory of the game seems to be that seven Seraphims are battling Lucifer's fallen angels for control of creation, but that backstory has little impact on how the game actually works. During the bonus round, you get 2 morphing and moving drop areas, which provide wild transformations. Multipliers are also provided by multiple wilds in the same area. There are no size restrictions on the drop area, and you can win up to 3,938x your money in the bonus round.

Features of the Clash of the Seraphim slot machine

Symbols pay between 0.5 and 1x for 5 matching symbols in a cluster anywhere on the grid, and you need 5 to 40+ matching symbols in a cluster to win. If you hit 40+ matching symbols in a cluster at the top of the game, you will win 30 to 1,000x your stake. By using the Cascading mechanic, wilds are used to replace pay symbols that are missing, and winning symbols are removed from the game to create new winning chances. The process is repeated as long as your winning streak continues.

As with any video game, this game has three drop areas, the dark area, the light area, and the scatter area. The light area and the dark area move around each spin, and their respective sizes range from 2x2 to 3x7. When a wild symbol appears within the dark or light areas, all the symbols in those areas turn wild as well. Whenever more than one wild symbol lands in the same area, you receive a multiplier in proportion to the number of wilds.

Whenever the Eye of Seraphim scatter symbol appears on the middle reel, it activates the Bonus Round, as long as it falls below the Eternal Gate scatter area at the bottom of the screen. There are two types of free spins available in the game: 8 Dark Free Spins (high volatility), and 15 Light Free Spins (less volatile). You can choose between 8 Dark Free Spins or 15 Light Free Spins. There is no limit to the size of the drop area during the bonus round, and there is no scatter, so you cannot retrigger this feature. Scatters also do not appear during the feature, which means you are unable to retrigger it.

As for the Bonus Buy option, it is available in some jurisdictions, but not for certain in the UK. This option will cost you 75x your stake, and you will get the same 95.51 % RTP for the spin. This will give you a spin where the scatter is 100% guaranteed to drop to the scatter area that triggered the spin.

In our experience, Clash of the Seraphim was a decent game. At least the cascading mechanic at least keeps a decent pace, which we found to be rather satisfying. For your viewing pleasure, we have put together a brief and edited highlights video for the event. You can watch it for yourself by hitting the play button below.

Summary of the review

There is a grid placed in between a demon from hell and an angel from heaven. Despite this, the fight between good and evil does not really spill over into the gameplay, and seems to be more of a Mexican standoff than anything else. In spite of this, the visuals seem decent. Ultimately, the moving and morphing drop areas both look and act the same, so it would have been better if, at the very least, a flame frame had been used in one of the areas.
